All In Me Head

So much of my life is lived inside my head …

Turning the Other Cheek – Inside Out

Published elsewhere (Digg, et al) as a response to a commenter on Digg who was INSISTING that the myth they were spinning out of ACORN made voter fraud and interference by the Republican Party “acceptable” and “OK.”

I’m always amazed by the Republican ability to get away with suggesting — always with a straight face — that one over-blown [usually made up] wrong will easily “make up for” another wrong — or even the expectation that they can COVER one wrong with some mistake or other made by their opponents.

What makes this dangerous is how far afield it can go — as demonstrated by Randall Terry, for example — who ultimately pushed that theory to the point of publicly advocating for “hatred and intolerance as tools in achieving a Christian theocracy in the United States. He was quoted in the Fort Wayne Indiana News-Sentinel on August 16, 1993:

“I want you to just let a wave of intolerance wash over you. I want you to let a wave of hatred wash over you. Yes, hate is good…. Our goal is a Christian nation. We have a Biblical duty, we are called by God, to conquer this country. We don’t want equal time. We don’t want pluralism.”

No matter what YOU (swingvoter) may BELIEVE happened with regard to ACORN, using it to COVER for the FACT that the GOP is massively screwing with between 4 and 10 MILLION PEOPLE’S RIGHT TO VOTE — a right died for by hundreds of thousands at minimum — is UTTERLY UNACCEPTABLE.

Fox – owned by non-American Murdoch.
(Yes, I know he “swore citizenship oath” but if we work by Repub allegations about certain others …) $28.6 billion in revenue. [Murdoch is also on Philip Morris' board. (Phillip Morris donated 2.9 million to George W Bush in 2000)]

ABC – Owned by Walt Disney
(for cryin’ out loud. Oh. Sure. They’re going to oppose the strict-father myth of “family values”. They’ve bloody BUILT on that myth. [Even if "The Little Mermaid" advocates defiance of parents and underage marriage, IMHO....]

NBC – owned by GE. [$172 Billion annual income, $239 billion market cap. Yeah, they want those tax loopholes closed and their lobbyists taken away. NOT - Oh, they donated $1.1 million to G Bush in 2000, among others, and they like NUCLEAR power, not the green alternatives]

CBS/Westinghouse – Owned by Viacom through a sort of “partner” co-own stock scheme. [Routinely violates personal privacy rights -- most notably in its 'case' against YouTube. They LIKE the Republican style, I'll wager. Equally, Westinghouse Electric Company, part of the Nuclear Utilities Business Group of British Nuclear Fuels (BNFL) ]

CNN
– TimeWarner (donated 1.6 million to GWB’s 2000 campaign)
